GPS Systems
I love the Nissan Satnav system great direction and really easy to use and follow but it’s stuck in the front of my car. So i’m looking at a portable system is the iPhone or Nokia N95 any good at direction finding. Does it need any other addons to work and do you need to subscribe to expensive pay services to use it or is it preinstalled on the phone. And does it need a telephone signal / network coverage to work the mapping.

The few phones that have real GPS are the Blackberry 8830, Curve and Tilt on AT&T, and N95.
If you get something like the Pearl2 on Sprint, you get Sprint Navigation included in the monthly fee.
The iPhone doesn’t have GPS so if you want directions, you have to know where you are and where to make each turn, whereas the GPS-enabled phones will tell you.
By the way, pretty much any phone will run Google maps.
